Athlone

Athlone Castle, Co. Westmeath

Two figures are on display here. One a local stone from a 12th century Cluniac Convent, Abbey Lane and no longer standing but was rehoused on St. Peter Port laundry until this too fell into ruin.

Another comes from Rahan Church, which is 30k to the south east and found when the graveyard was being cleaned up. Figures are dusty but well lit, making inspection that much easier. The museum here houses both sheelas and you can get good local information from the guide.
