When I first got to this site and got talking to the owner, Noel Coogan, he told me that he had informed the authorities 10 years ago about this sheela. I was livid to think that several publications have been issued in that time and there was no mention of this sheela.

If you ask the owner nicely he will drag this huge stone out of the shed for you. By using a wet cloth on the stone it brings out the image.

You will see that this is an almost smiling figure with huge cow ears, a long neck, a huge set of ribs and as somebody called them, testicular breasts…poor girl. Hands reaching behind to hold an out of place vulva with quite a pronounced and fresh looking slit.

Quite a striking stone and judging by it’s size it must have been placed high up on a castle. But in actual fact it was found in a roadside wall with the nearest castle a good bit away.
